Ubuntu Children's Choir
Location: Based in Cape TownBiography
The Ubuntu children’s choir was established in 2003, and has performed at many Corporate events in in Cape Town and surrounds. Their spirited songs are inspired by feelings and moods which the children can associate with - happiness, sadness and love.
True to their name (Ubuntu means "humanity") the choir's philosophy is to revive the spirit of togetherness, by promoting human values such as Love, Respect and Trust, and saying no to drugs and fighting child abuse. Most of these young children, aged between 8 and 15, are raised by single parents who are employed as domestic workers, from the disadvantaged community of Strand - Lwandle, Zola and Nomzamo location. The opportunities created for them by the Uubuntu choir, and the cultivation of their musial talents, are creating hope and joy for the children and their families, as well as their growing audience.
Client Feedback
I’d just like to thank the choir for a great performance. They absolutely made the evening and sang their hearts out. We were particularly impressed with the little “Lauren Hill” who sang the solo parts. We wish them all the best for the future.
Candace Sutton-Pryce, Red Rooster Activations
All went off very well and they loved Ubuntu ! Phillip was great and it was a pleasure working with him. Thank you for all your assistance with the booking.

Just wanted to thank you again for sending the Ubuntu Children's Choir - they were not only adorable but sang so beautifully as well. I have been reviewing the 3 hours of footage from my 2 SABC cameramen and there are some great shots of the children. I will be putting a DVD of the wedding together and will send you a copy - thank you again and I am sorry we never met personally. Next time I am in Cape Town (and not so stressed -ha) I will phone you - the wedding was a phenomenal success - all 70 overseas guests were amazed.
Ruchel Coetzee
It went very well. The weather wasn’t ideal what with the wind and very overcast skies, but the choir were fantastic and probably the highlight of all the involved suppliers!
Kate Rawbone, Wedding Concepts
The choir was amazing. They had a few guests in tears! Please thank them again.
Mariet Pieterse, Zorgvliet
Wil net my dank uitspreek teenoor julle en die Ubuntu kinderkoor. Hulle was toe inderdaad iets besonders. Die gaste het hulle baie geniet want hulle leef hulle werklik uit in hulle musiek. Baie dankie weereens. Hoop hulle gaan van krag tot krag.
Rone Neethling, Cape Retirement Fund

Sheila Garcia, KPMG
The children were adorable and definitely pulled at the heart strings of most guests, I had several people tell me that they had goose bumps when the children walked in singing in harmony. Such sweet little voices!
