Robin Cathleen Botha

Known throughout the classical world for her unconventional approach to music this singer will hold you spellbound by her vocal acrobatics and thrilling stage performances. No song is a problem for this eclectic performer.

Internationally acclaimed soprano Robin Botha landed the much coveted role of 'Christine Daae' in 'The Phantom of the Opera'. Earning rave reviews, Robin won the prestigious 2012 Fleur Du Cap Award for "Best Actress in A Musical" in her musical debut. Robin continued excelling in musicals appearing in Cape Town Opera’s production of 'Show Boat' and proceeded to get outstanding reviews for her portrayal of 'Magnolia Hawkes' in the United Kingdom tour. (The production was nominated for a "UK Theatre Award" for Best Touring Production)

After returning to South Africa Robin was chosen as 'The Voice' in The Underground Dance Theatre in their production of MODE, a new work commissioned by The Baxter Theatre. MODE was then staged successfully at The National Arts Festival 2015 and Die Vryfees 2015.

Robin graduated from The College of Music  at the University of Cape Town. Here she performed various roles such as Manon (Manon), Helena (A midsummer night's dream) and Fiordiligi (Cosi Fan Tutti) in a National Tour of South Africa.  As well as appearing on opera and musical stages she has also headlined music festival stages across South Africa with her various electronic bands. Combining her operatic style with modern music production she has worked with some of South Africas most highly regarded music producers for film and radio.

Not a performer to be put in a box Robin was chosen as resident front singer and MC of Cape Town's Burlesque Supper Theatre Club VAUDEVILLE. (Cape Town and Namibia) Her performances included opera, comedy cabaret, pop, swing and dance. 

As an added bonus for any event Robin has incorporated aerial hoop into her opera performances and can be seen singing high above the heads of an audience for a truely spectacular and unique visual element. Noted performances for corporates include Allen Gray Year End Function, Beverly Hills Hotel 50th Birthday, Body Spectre Awards, Old Mutual Awards, Deloitte Awards, Avis Roadshow (SA),  Womens day Convention CTICC, Diamond Works, Steenberg and MCQP Launch.

This year sees Robin co-directing and producing for the first time in a collaborative, exclusively South African production titled 'In Opstanding' to be performed at The State theatre in October.
