Biography

Malika Omar is a professional pianist and composer, who has garnered much success for her craft throughout the Middle East and other parts of the world. Her classical/fusion style of playing and original music display her ethnic diversity (her ancestral lineage includes Turkish, Persian and Indian) and she fuses Arab, Western Contemporary; Turkish; Classical and Bollywood melodies seamlessly together in a lilting, classical style. Her original compositions (available on her album ‘Sand Star’; charity single ‘New Hope’ and single inspired by her inclusion into Maserati’s 1 of 100 Craftsmen from around the world ‘The Falcon & The Trident’) are colourful stories merging East and West.

Her music is available throughout the world via iTunes and other leading download stores, including Times Music in the Indian subcontinent. All music is also available for mobile download throughout the Middle East and North Africa.

She has performed for many celebrities and VVIPs, including Middle Eastern and European royalty. She was featured in a film called ‘Arabic Fusion’ which screened at various film festivals across the world.

Her award nominations include 5 x Ahlan! Best in Dubai Awards for Best Music Act and a Cosmopolitan Middle East Fabulous Female Award nomination for Best Entertainer. She has been listed by Time Out Dubai and The National UAE as one of the United Arab Emirates’ best-selling artists on 3 different occasions. She garnered an award for her contribution to the charity: the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, a non-political, non-religious and non-profit organization.

She has appeared in world media, including on TV shows and on 3 publication covers.

Her music was used as the theme for a TV show on Zee TV Middle East and she has composed music for a charity clip for a UNHCR competition to raise awareness for the plight of Syrian refugees.

Her relaxing, chill-out piano style has been admired by audiences including (but not limited to) a Saudi princess; Middle Eastern king; leading Arab film actor and Hollywood director.
