Biography

Sing-songwriter Lize Mynhardt rose to fame in 2014 when she enchanted South Africa during the Idols X series, in which she finished 3rd overall.  For events, Lize performs as a "one-man-band" who can accompany her singing on both the guitar and piano. With the help of a loop pedal, she layers her sounds and instruments to fill up the atmosphere with a laid-back or up-tempo, happy vibe, while enhancing the music with her sultry yet crisp vocals.

Lize carefully customises her repertoire to fit the event or setting and she is always willing to accommodate special requests. Her repertoire is always up to date with the latest popular charts, balanced with some old school, classic hits. Her song choices range from Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra, to Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond, Katy Melua, to Justin Bieber, Lukas Graham, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Taylor Swift and Lord. Apart from the popular cover songs, she will also sometimes improvise instrumentals or add some original unreleased music in-between covers.

Lize first gained career-changing exposure when she made it to the Top 3 in Idols South Africa Season 10. She performed with Randall Abrahams during the grand finale, and performed at various prestigious events following the competition. Her high-profile performances include Clare Wiese's wedding ceremony, The Switching on of Christmas Lights Festival in Cape Town, The Sakekamer 100 Year Awards Ceremony and performing the National Anthem broadcast on national television for various sporting events.

Oozing natural talent, Lize has been playing music and performing since childhood, playing piano and acoustic guitar by ear from the age of six and subsequently learning to play the drums, bass, banjo, violin and electric guitar. She ultimately started singing in matric, and there was no turning back as she made a name for herself by singing at local restaurants, wine farms, weddings and corporate events, accompanying herself on guitar or piano.

Apart from her Idols second runner-up position, Lize had also won a Maties FM singing competition in 2014, and in 2015 she released her debut album "Silent Night".  Influenced by artists like Sam Smith, Pink, Ed Sheeran, Lorde and Taylor Swift, Lize loves creating new music, as well as performing her own versions of covers and popular songs, enhanced by her own instrumentation.
