Biography

Soprano Candis Angelene's voice and style have been likened to artists like Sarah Brightman and Celtic Woman.  Her bright, ethereal voice has enchanted corporate and public audiences alike, with highlights including performances with the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra (at shows like ‘Joburg Pops’ and the SABC 2 broadcasted ‘12 Days of Christmas’), events for Barloworld, MTN, Standard Bank and ‘Car of the Year’ awards, and a performance at the Nanning Folk Music Festival in China to audiences of over 30,000. She has shared stages with SA stars like Vicky Sampson, Joseph Clark, Karen Zoid and André Schwartz.

In 2009 Candis released her debut Classical crossover style album ‘Ancient Light’, which reached No.4 on Classic FM's Top 20 Chart.  The album, which contains original songs with lyrics by Candis, lead to significant publicity for Candis, including feature articles in various publications, as well as interviews and performances on radio and TV.

Her show ‘Ancient Light – In Concert with Candis Angelene’, first performed on 28 March 2010, brings the songs from her album  to life on the stage.  Accompanied by a classical ensemble and featuring guest artist Joseph Clark, the concert also includes other favourites such as ‘Fields of Gold’ (Sting)  and The Prayer (Celine Dion and Andre Bocelli).
