Biography

Black Water is an exciting new addition to the South African Blues scene. Formed in 2015, this talented trio features established musicians/music veterans Martin Botha (vocals and lead guitar), Hannes van Wyk (bass guitar) and Bennie Pretorius (drums). While the band’s style is predominantly guitar-driven old school Blues and rock, the inclusion of varied influences ensures that Black Water’s sound stands out as dirty, gutsy and raw.

Playing their own passionate and recognizable style makes their music stands out as fresh, thrilling and relevant in today’s music arena.

Crowds from all over Gauteng as well as Natal has so far enjoyed and reacted to their music.  They are used by festivals, bike rallies as well as many restaurants where they produce an alternative soft and unplugged version of their music.

Noteworthy Performances

  • South Coast Bike Festival x2
  • Rhino and Paradise Bike Festivals
  • Several RSA Blues Society Gigs
  • Restaurants such as Otterlake Farm, Sinkshack, Cow House Market, Blue Crane, Boma Restaurant, Railway Cafe, Green Bar, Fireman's Tavern, etc.
