Vamos is an exciting flamenco duo consisting of two highly acclaimed South African insturmentalists with a passion for the music of Spain.  Guitarist Saudiq Khan and flautist Carina Bruwer is a combo made in flamenco heaven; their phenomenal out-of-this-world instrumental techniques can only be matched by the musical flair they posess on their respective instruments, with a result that is both musically explosive and emotionally intricate.

A veteran of the South African music stage, Saudiq needs no introduction; South African audiences flock to hear his passionate flamenco rhythms and original compositions. He models his playing on his hero of the flamenco guitar – Maestro Paco de Lucia, who together with Rafael Riqueni, provided Saudiq with inspiration to compose his own work. He has subsequently released 2 albums with mostly original compositions.

One of the most unique flute players in the world today, Carina Bruwer is praised far and wide for her phenominal technique combined with her idiosyncratic improvisation skills and soulful interpretations rarely associated with this instrument. Carina, who holds a BMus (Hons) cum laude and is also the leader and founder of Sterling EQ – the the SAMA Award-winning all-woman trio known for coining the genre “instrumental pop” through their unique take on instrumental music – has recorded on over a dozen albums, performed in 15 countries both solo and as part of Sterling, and won numerous awards for her work across the board, from purely Classical to crossover, instrumental pop and contemporary.

Saudiq and Carina have performed together since 2015 as part of Saudiq's fully fledged Flamenco band "Casta Alma", which presented large concerts across venues in Cape Town. Vamos was founded in 2019 when Carina returned from a tour of Spain, where she performed with local flamenco guitarists and was inspired to reignite the passion for flamenco and Latin music in a South African context together with Saudiq.
