Marleze Smit

Marleze is a professional classically trained concert pianist, who spent her earlier years performing and competing in a highly competitive environment. She received the degree B.Mus (Hons) cum laude from the University of Stellenbosch, (majoring in solo performance) and has won numerous awards, prizes, competitions & bursaries throughout her studies.

Since then, she has been entertaining audiences in Cape Town, throughout South Africa and across the world. (France, Spain, Italy & Dubai).  She is a highly accomplished, charming, dynamic & versatile pianist, who has been performing as soloist, as well as in duos and trios, at hotels, restaurants, winefarms, festivals, numerous corporate events and countless weddings since 2000.

Globally praised for her virtuosity & phenomenal technique, combined with her passionate & soulful performances, Marleze offers a unique & sophisticated performance in a variety of music styles from classical to crossover, contemporary, Latin and Jazz. Her music ranges from elegant relaxing classics to love songs, movie themes & vibrant jazz classics. 

Her extensive repertoire ranges from purely classical to world music and crossing genres (classical, instrumental pop, Latin, jazz, lounge).  A groovy, global, glamorous fusion of French, Spanish & Argentinian melodies in a Buddha Bar-ish kind of vibe. Her music is an “around the world musical adventure !”  She performs her wildly diverse repertoire in different styles of music from different parts of the world.

Her performances are tasteful, elegant classy & vibrant and never fail to leave a lasting impression with her audiences. Guaranteed to add a touch of class to any special occasion!

Marleze is also the founder of Yemanya. She started this groovy, glam project in 2010 and released their 1st album Two Roads in 2011.

Marleze can be booked as soloist (with/without backing tracks), or in a group of 2/3 (duo/trio) with voice/violin/cello. Her extensive repertoire can be tailored to suit the event.
