Marisa's Tribal Fusion Bellydance

Marisa is a versatile, compelling performer whose style moves easily from the graceful to the quirky.

With fluid snakelike movements, intricate glitchy muscle isolations and powerful femininity, Tribal Fusion is a new dance form, combining ancient movements of the belly and hips with modern styles such as contemporary, hip hop and flamenco.

Marisa performs solo or with diverse collaborators, including various types of dancers, musicians, visual artists, djs and fire and light performers.

Whatever your theme and event…. intimate or formal, outdoors or indoors…. on theatre stages, in the space between dinner tables, for festivals or parties…. fusion dance is uniquely adaptable.

Marisa LOVES Tribal Fusion Bellydance. She is an adventurer, a perfectionist, a believer in at least ‘six impossible things before breakfast’; and a passionate collaborator with dancers, musicians and performers of diverse genres.

A grateful student of many of the founders and innovators of Tribal Fusion, Marisa devoted the past three years to the most comprehensive accreditation in this dance style: Rachel Brice’s ‘The 8 Elements’ in the USA. She is now the sole South African certified practitioner of Datura Style Tribal Fusion.

Marisa continues to spend half the year in the USA - which also expands her parallel career in fashion and costume design - and has performed in various lovely places around the planet.
