Noteworthy Performances

The quartet have enjoyed successful shows at Signature Restaurant, Radisson Blu Hotel, Hilton Hotel, Sheraton Hotel, Emperor’s Palace Hotel, Summer Place, The Houghton Golf Club, The Pretoria Golf Club, Hyatt Hotel and a number of other premiere locations & venues throughout Gauteng.  The band also boasts regular performances at Katzy’s Cigar Lounge in Rosebank, considered to be one of the best live venues in Gauteng.  In addition, the quartet had the privilege of entertaining the cream of South Africa’s business community at the Sunday Times 100 Top Company Awards, held at the Johannesburg City Hall at the end of 2010.  The last 8 years has seen the group add Veuve Clicquot, TCTA, Telkom, Sanlam, Standard Bank, Transaction Capitol, NBC, Citigroup, Murray & Roberts, Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyer Inc, African Aviation, Redefine Properties, Hollard Life, NERSA, SHF, Human Sciences Research Council, SAGRA (South African Graduate Recruiters Association), National Health Laboratory Service, Marriott International, Holiday Holdings International, Weddings by Marius, Terry Sutherland & Associates and GDF Suez to their list of blue chip clientele. The group looks forward to an exciting next few months as they expand their current repertoire and add to an already impressive list of high-end clients. 

Members

Julia Lamberti (vocals)

Julia is an established live performer, songwriter and recording artist who performs material from an eclectic range of genres.  Jazz and blues are her first loves and her sound and style are heavily influenced by timeless artists like Eva Cassidy, Natalie Cole, Nina Simone and Norah Jones.  Julia has performed at virtually every music venue in the Gauteng area and had the honour of being featured in the 2007 Joy of Jazz Festival.  Her previous corporate clients include Eskom, Sasol, Microsoft, Coke Cola International, Massmart Holdings, Porsche South Africa and Nedbank. 

Pohl Fink (keyboard)

Pohl's exquisite style has a classical jazz feel, peppered with the soul and flavour of gospel, funk, R&B.  He has worked with some of the hottest jazz and gospel outfits in the Cape and Gauteng and is a talented and fun addition to the quartet. 

Anthony Koopman (bass)

Anthony is a skilled performer who has played with everyone from successful rock outfits like Mean Mr Mustard to top South African jazz musicians like Judith Sephuma and Simphiwe Dana.  Anthony also trains aspiring bass players at his weekly Damelin College music course and has had extensive session experience in studios in Cape Town and Johannesburg.  Like Julia, his passion is jazz and blues and his impressive technique and creativity form an integral part of the group’s sound and identity. 

Esra Isaacs (drums and percussion)

Esra Isaacs is a prolific drummer who has enjoyed playing at major festivals, corporate events and television shows over his 15 year career in this industry.  He currently works with several original and cover bands and his achievements include appearances on E-TV’s “Back Stage” and, more recently, performing for millions at the 2010 FIFA Opening & Closing concerts as drummer for the local outfit Steady Rock.

I did not get a chance to thank Julia and team for their fantastic entertainment at the SAGRA Conference Award Dinner on 28 Nov – I was running around as organisers do and missed them.  Please won’t you reach out and thank them – great evening and really enjoyed.  We will definitely consider them again for our 2015 gig!
