Biography

Sophisticated, versatile and virtuoso singer, guitarist, keyboardist, composer, arranger Jacques Steyn performs in many genres ranging from intimate continental cabaret and large crowd rock concerts, solo performance at arts festivals to blues bands, rock bands, folk duos and trios, light classics and choirs, music theatre to a capella and Jazzy singing... all depending on the project.

A playlist of about 300 songs is presently offered as solo artist in 5 different programs for different audiences:
• Served chilled: Easy Listening - a mixture of genres ranging from folk, pop, ballads and crossover light classics
• Timeless: Light Classics and timeless ballads - crossover music
• Golden Oldies: popular music of the past 100 years
• Smooth Beatles with a Twist: famous and lesser known Beatles' songs
• Just keys: lounge and piano bar - 2 hour program

Performances of these sets include self-accompaniment by either guitar, keyboards, selfarranged backtrack music or a combination of these. Songs are performed in English, French, Italian and Spanish.

Own compositions and performance was featured on SABC2 national television program, called Music from within
Cast member of the musical Mame, which ran for 6 months and more than 1000 performances in the then called Civic Theatre of Johannesburg
Choir member of the Wagner production of The Flying Dutchman in the State Theatre in Pretoria
Regular support artist in State Theatre
